NOMAD Dance Academy is a common initiative of six regional partner organizations / from Macedonia (Lokomotiva), Serbia and Montenegro (Stanica), Slovenia (Fico Ballet), Croatia (Tala Dance), Bulgaria (Brain Store) and Bosnia and Herzegovina (Tanzelarija) as part of the Balkan Dance Network , with the aim to promote, educate and collaborate in the area of contemporary dance and related arts.

The NOMAD Dance Academy program consists of three program lines with a different focus on education, research and production in contemporary dance.

The education line is a 6 month-program that provides 12 scholarships for students from 6 different Balkan countries to travel through all the Balkans and attend high quality education led by regional and international artists and experts in the field of dance, performing arts, theory, visual arts… The program is based on the needs of the local dance environments and can change from year to year.

The research program is focused on development of NOMAD program, again depending on different needs recognized by the artistic board, coordination board or external experts. It should help deeper research of contemporary dance issues by NOMAD artists, students, partners etc through various forms of artistic work.

Production program will support large productions as the result of NOMAD research and artistic development or smaller co-productions of NDA members and invited artists. This program will foster touring and performing in partner countries and elsewhere.

NOMAD Dance Academy will enable more efficient knowledge exchange, transfer of good practice (Europe-Balkans-Europe) and extensive mobility of dance artists and experts. It should result with contemporary dance being in the higher education curricula, professionalisation of the contemporary dance field in respective countries and international promotion of the Balkan contemporary dance productions.
