The Strategy for Cultural Development of Pelagonia Region 2013-2016 resulted from the continuous collaboration with the main stakeholders in the region (representatives of the 9 municipalities, the public cultural institutions and the civil sector) and the outcomes of the activities realised in accordance with the established methodological framework. This document reflects the actual needs for development of the culture in Pelagonia Region, defined on the basis of the realised discussions, working sessions, researches and analysis. The Strategy was developed in accordance with the applicable regulations and the legal frameworks in the domains of culture and territorial development in Macedonia. The Strategy includes:

• analysis of the cultural sector in the country, with special emphasis on decentralization in culture;
• review of the regional and local policies for culture and territorial development in the country;
• basic features of the Pelagonia Region;
• methodology of work and the results of the implemented methodology;
• vision and mission of the Pelagonia Region;
• strategic goals and activity plan with expected outcomes and indicators for monitoring the process of achieving the goals.

Through the implementation of Strategy in the next three years we believe that we can make positive changes and influence the creation of sustainable structures and mechanisms for regional development, increase the quality of collaboration and the quality of cultural production and supply, achieve greater visibility and international cooperation of the region and raise the quality of the cultural life of Pelagonia citizens.

The Strategy will be presented in font of the main stakeholders in the region (municipalities, the cultural sector) and the local and national media.

After the presentation in the following year separate meetings will be organised with the Council for Development of the Pelagonia Region and the Ministry for Local Self-Government in order to be involved as strategic partner and support and facility the implementation of the Strategy.

The Strategy is developed in the frame of the Programme for Decentralised Cooperation between the Region Lower Normandy (France) the Republic of Macedonia (Cultural policies axe). The Strategy is realised in the frame of the yearly programme of Lokomotiva, supported through CIVICA Mobilitas Programme, implemented by the Centre for Institutional Development – CIRa and financed by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).
