Jasmina Prolic was leading a workshop on contemporary dance in Skopje from 7th till 9th of June 2007.
She was invited as part of Lokomotiva’s programme for the development of the contemporary dance.
On the workshop were participating independent dancers as well as the students from the Music Ballet High School “Ilija Nikolovski – Luj” in Skopje. The workshop was held in the studios of the school.
Programme of the workshop included the following aims:
- To search and exploit several states of body: calm, nervosity, fear, expectation, speediness, happiness, sadness, static and moving exhaustion;
- To play with different time (very slow, speed, very speed), to change the movement growth;
- To surpass our own body and mental limits and
- To work with references to sentences from literature: Romeo and Juliette, Miss Julie.
As Jasmina Prolic says about the composition of the work performed in Skopje:
The workshop is a time to meet, to exchange and to share between the “world” of a creator and the participants. These moments allow the participants to confront themselves to a personal way of choreographic research and to discover and to exploit their own creative capacities. They would also study thoroughly into their knowledge in the field of improvisation and composition. Workshop consists for each participant in emerging its own creativity, in using former knowledge and things, directions learned during the training.
