A PAGE OUT OF ORDER OVERLAND is an international collaboration conceived and directed by Yoshiko Chuma, Artistic Director of the New York based company, School of Hard Knocks, and created in collaboration with the artists.  The work was developed during residencies and rehearsals in New York and in Macedonia where artists collaborated face to face in an exchange of ideas, experiences and personal histories.
Performance is based on the history of several lands and landscapes, from the Balkan region to Asia, where war has torn apart families and divided lives.  The work emerges from a variety of shared and unfamiliar stories and artist-to-artist dialogues among dancers, musicians, stage designers, and producers from the USA, Macedonia and Japan.  The style of the performance is conceived in the form of a 1920 silent film, and features a variety of new and archival film created and edited for the production. The 7-foot cubes are metaphors for enclosed spaces and frame urban and rural landscapes
